I've heard that Diplomacy only works when both parties don't want what happens if it fails.

Iran never believed that the US would do "bad shit to them" if the Diplomacy failed.

Now Trump did "bad shit to them" so if they were sane/intelligent, they'd talk.

Of course, I doubt that Iran's leadership is either sane or intelligent.

You're right. That's why we need to get rid of Iran's government. We're going to need some help from the Iranian people to pll that off though

They need to do it themselves, with *minimal* assistance from us if they request it. "Nation building" is where we got into trouble in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I agree that Trump got this one right. Someone stated on FB this morning that he did what the previous seven presidents should have done. Iran has been an increasing threat to the rest of the world since the Shah was toppled in 1979.

One more comment. You mentioned that people were killed. Undoubtedly so, but unlike the Ayatollahs, who want to set the world on fire to hasten the return of their 12th Imam, we--and the Israelis--make it a point to strike only military targets and avoid as much collateral damage as possible.
